Intended Use

The Universal Short Hex Wrench 1.25 mm is intended for the installation, tightening, loosening, and removal of implant screws and prosthetic components utilizing a 1.25 mm hexagonal connection. The instrument is designed for use during both the surgical and restorative stages of dental implant treatment.

The wrench can be used manually or in conjunction with compatible surgical ratchets, surgical keys, and calibrated torque wrenches to achieve the required tightening torque.

Instructions for Use

Pre-Operative Procedure

1. Inspect the Universal Short Hex Wrench 1.25 mm for cleanliness, wear, deformation, or damage.
2. Verify compatibility with the implant system and component being used.
3. Clean and sterilize the instrument before use.
4. Prepare the implant component according to the clinical protocol.

Manual Screw Placement

1. Engage the 1.25 mm hex tip fully into the screw head.
2. Insert the screw into the implant component.
3. Begin tightening manually using the Universal Short Hex Wrench.
4. Continue until the screw is properly seated.

Final Torque Application

After manual seating, connect the wrench to a compatible torque instrument such as:
- Torque Wrench 446301
- Torque Wrench 446302
- Compatible surgical ratchet or torque device
- Apply the torque recommended by the implant manufacturer.
- Verify complete seating and stability of the component.

Screw Removal

1. Engage the 1.25 mm hex tip completely into the screw head.
2. Rotate counterclockwise while maintaining axial pressure.
3. Remove the screw and component carefully.
4. Inspect the screw and component before reuse or replacement.

Cleaning and Sterilization

- Thoroughly clean the instrument to remove blood, saliva, tissue residues, and contaminants.
- Pay special attention to the hex engagement area.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Dry completely before sterilization.
- Sterilize using a validated steam sterilization cycle.
- Recommended Sterilization: Autoclave at 135°C (274°F)
- Do not use the instrument if sterility cannot be assured.

Maintenance

- Inspect the 1.25 mm hex tip regularly for wear.
- Replace the instrument if deformation, corrosion, cracking, or rounding of the hex tip is observed.
- Do not modify the instrument.

Storage

Store in a clean, dry environment protected from contamination, moisture, direct sunlight, and mechanical damage. Keep the instrument in a protective surgical tray or instrument cassette when not in use.
